EOM Sim 1.1

WesternU’s CETL team introduces EOM Sim, an advanced 3D eye simulation designed to illustrate the movement of the extraocular muscles with high anatomical accuracy. Recognizing that eye movement involves a complex coordination of multiple muscles, this tool enables users to observe and manipulate each muscle independently, providing insight into their specific roles in ocular motion. EOM Sim serves as both an educational resource for medical students and a fundamental study aid for anyone interested in the biomechanics of the eye, offering an immersive experience beyond traditional text-based learning.

In its latest iteration, Version 2, the application now includes pupillary response simulation and fully rendered 3D eye muscles for enhanced realism and interactivity.

Usage instructions:

• Interact with the model by touching the screen; the eyes will follow your finger movements.
• Adjust individual muscle strengths using the side sliders to simulate various conditions.
• Toggle cranial nerve influence by swiping left or right on the interface.
• Access pupil response mode via the flashlight icon located at the bottom of the screen.
• View and manipulate a detailed 3D eye model using the leftmost button on the bottom bar, allowing rotation and zooming functionalities.
• Control eye gaze direction with the on-screen joystick positioned to the right.
• Interact with specific muscles in three dimensions to better understand their functions and contributions to eye movement.

EOM Sim remains an actively developed platform, and user feedback is highly encouraged to foster ongoing improvements and feature additions.
